Our Story
The Marietta History Center opened its doors on January 13th, 1996 as the Marietta Museum of History. What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. The MHC has hosted over 300,000 visitors and preserves a collection of over 50,000 artifacts.
Our mission is to “Ignite curiosity in Marietta’s history by connecting people through compelling stories and engaging experiences.”
For the thirty years of the museum, we have been housed in the historic Kennesaw House. Since 2010, we have occupied the entire building with the first floor being the home to offices, museum store, and our rental space. The second floor showcasing our galleries and exhibit. The third floor being our collections storage space that is climate controlled.
