Meet the Authors - A Book-Signing Event

Just in Time for the Holidays
15 Authors and Counting….  

The Marietta Museum of History will host a book-signing for an assortment of talented local authors on Thursday, December 11 from 5 - 7pm. This group will include authors of new releases and local classics.

Local celebrity and restaurateur Johnnie Gabriel has created much buzz lately with her long-awaited cookbook, Cooking in the South . The book includes a forward by her cousin, Paula Deen.

Connie Cox and Darlene Walsh will be here to sign their first-edition nonfiction book due out November 28 th . Providence is a brand new book of Cobb County letters before the Civil War.

Charles Pittman has written a new book called Ten Cent Bill , which chronicles the life of local historical figure Bill Yopp, the only African American buried in the Confederate Cemetery.

Local Columnist Joe Kirby has penned two local favorites—the newly released The Bell Bomber Plant and Marietta Then & Now coauthored with photographer Damien Guarnieri.

All titles mentioned are available for purchase at the Museum Store. The book-signing event is free and open to the public. Reservations are suggested at 770-794-5710.

Join us for College Coffee Night!

The Marietta Museum of History will host a new event for the college crowd. College Coffee Night at the Museum will be an evening of fun with a trivia game, time to tour the museum and coffee and refreshments. Gift cards and other prizes will be awarded during the evening.

"I'm excited that we can offer an event that is an alternative to the typical college scene," said Anna Monroe, Museum Assistant. "The students have put a lot of work into ensuring a fun evening for participants. We are anticipating a big crowd and hope to make plans soon to continue the event in 2009."

College Coffee Night will begin on Tuesday, September 9 at 7pm and will run the second Tuesday of each month through December 2008. Cost of the event is $3 per person.
