Staff Bios

Director of Operations–Jan Galt is a third generation Marietta native. After graduating from Marietta High School, she attended LaGrange College and received a degree in Mathematics, minoring in Business Administration.  Upon her return to Marietta, she worked at her family business, Lindsey-Galt Furniture until its closing.  Jan supervises the Museum’s day-to-day operations, oversees the staff and volunteers, purchases goods for the Museum Store along with maintaining the fiscal health of the Museum.  Jan is the principle fundraiser for the Museum. She has received her Museum administration certification from the Jekyll Island Management Institute.

Collections Manager–Christa McCay holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Masters’ Degree in Heritage Preservation with an emphasis in Public History from Georgia State University. She oversees the legal documentation, storage maintenance, artifact preservation and data entry for the Museum’s entire collection of over 35,000 artifacts.  She has supervised and trained over 60 interns who have come to the Museum to learn collections management.  She is the Georgia State Representative for the Southeastern Registrars Association.  Christa has presented at state, regional and national conferences about her work with the collection.  Christa also handles the Museum’s membership list, including renewals and membership drives.

Curator of Exhibits & Education–Amy Reed has received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from North Georgia College and State University and has completed most of the coursework for a Masters’ degree in History from the University of West Georgia. She holds a certification in Museum Studies from the University of West Georgia.  She has been the Museum’s Curator since 2003, where she has created over 25 large scale exhibits and over 25 smaller case exhibits.  Amy has developed exhibits for other institutions as well including the Vinings Historic Preservation Society and North Georgia College and State University.  She is the creator and lead guide for the Museum Mice Tours, geared towards preschoolers.
