Peeling Back the Layers: Victorian Wedding Ensembles

The Marietta Museum of History is pleased to announce its newest exhibit, Peeling Back the Layers: Victorian Wedding Ensembles. The exhibit showcases the varied wedding dress styles from the Victorian Era. Along with the dresses, this exhibit shows the undergarments that were necessary to complete the ensemble and were rarely discussed let only shown!
Highlights of the exhibit include the twice worn wedding dress of Jane Atwood, who wore the dress not only for her wedding but also the wedding of Mittie Bulloch and Theodore Roosevelt, the parents of President Teddy Roosevelt. Also a variety of undergarments, including corsets, petticoats and stockings.
Opened on May 30, 2014, Peeling Back the Layers, will run through June 13th, 2015 and is sure to delight anyone who is interested in women’s clothing and weddings! This exhibit is included with the price of a regular Museum admission, Adults $7, Students and Seniors, (55 and older) $5, children under 5 and Museum members are Free.
