Marketing Internship

Internship Opportunity at the Marietta Museum of History

Area: Graphic Design/Marketing

Length of Internship: 10 to 15 weeks

Hours to Complete: Minimum of 150 hours

Non-Paid Internship

Scope: The intern’s projects will include creating marketing tools such as PowerPoint presentations to support programs and initiatives, brochures and other promotional print pieces. The Museum is also looking to redesign its quarterly newsletter. Other graphic design requests include providing graphic elements for the monthly email alerts using Vertical Response, event promotional material and signage.

Intern Goals & Responsibilities: The internship goals will include imparting on-the-job training and experience in graphic design and marketing for a non-profit.  The internship pertains directly to the design and marketing of museum information.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Create ads and publicity pieces for current and upcoming events.
  • Development of a Marketing plan
  • Design graphic elements for email alerts and mailingsRequirements: Prospective interns need to be currently enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program or have recently completed work in such program. Students majoring in graphic design, marketing or other related field with strong verbal and written communication skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite are ideal.

The best candidates will be able to:

  • Work independently within the guidelines set by the Museum staff and ask questions when new situations arise.
  • Work under tight deadlines and on multiple projects simultaneously with minimum supervision.
  • Interact professionally with varying groups of people including staff, volunteers, contributors, members and guests.
  • Accept supervision and mentoring while developing, and managing projects effectively with a limited budget.

Applicants must:

  • Be detail oriented, creative and resourceful
  • Have a good sense of humor
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Maintain a professional and amicable demeanor and appearance
  • Have experience in Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite programs
