History 4.0: African American Experience

The Marietta Museum of History presents History 4.0: a series of 4 week sessions discussing American History from a local perspective. Join us in our first session with Marietta’s own Michael Thomas as he focuses on our African American heritage and the Middle Passage.  Michael will present 4 lectures and interactive workshops to discuss the largest forced transatlantic migration in the world involving the trading of slaves, sugar, cotton and rum.  This course will center around the human trade and transport portion of this route known as the “Middle Passage.”  Often a neglected topic in our history books but a very important subject to explore to gain a better understanding of the racial strife we are still struggling with hundreds of years later.
