Lifelong Atlanta resident, Marion Blackwell, will be joining us for a special event featuring his book Blue Locusts.

Since 2012 has a special “bonus” day on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at 2pm the Marietta Museum of History will feature Mr. Marion Blackwell as a bonus lecturer in our 2012 Lecture Series. The lecture will be held in the first floor community room of the Kennesaw House, One Depot Street, Marietta, GA 30060.

Mr. Blackwell has written a fascinating cross section of short stories about the Civil War, Atlanta area history, his passion for hiking, his long real estate career and other topics. Blue Locusts features both fiction and non-fiction stories, essays and poetry. There is something for everyone in this book.

Mr. Blackwell’s writing has appeared in publications such as Georgia Backroads, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Landmarker, Friends Journal and Loftlife.

After a short stint in the Army during the Korean War, Mr. Blackwell came back to his hometown of Atlanta. He made a career for himself in commercial real estate and worked his way up to president of Sharp-Boylston, the oldest real estate company in Atlanta. He has served as president of the Atlanta Board of Realtors. Mr. Blackwell is an avid hiker and historian. He currently lives in Vinings.
