Group Tours

The Marietta Museum of History’s Kennesaw House offers group tours for student and adult groups of 10 or more.

Student tours are based on curriculum standards of Georgia schools. Therefore, we cover important history topics in detail for the students. Our most frequent field trip groups are 3rd and 5th graders. Please see information below regarding our field trip details.

Our adult group tours are based on the artifacts in the galleries and are more diverse than school tours. However, we can tailor our tour to fit your interests.

Tours at the Marietta Museum of History last one hour and can accommodate up to 30 children at a time. Tour group admission for the Kennesaw House only is $5 per person.  Please note this is the price for the Kennesaw House only, other institutions have their own pricing.

If you would like to schedule a tour, please contact us at 770-794-5710.

Details of a Kennesaw House tour:

Because the Kennesaw House is not a large facility, many groups opt to bring two or three classes at once and divide the large group in half, sending half the group to the Marietta Museum of History and the other half to the Root House (770-426-4982) or another nearby attraction  After the hour tour is completed, the two groups walk to the other location and then continue their tour. A sample itinerary for a large group planning to tour both the Marietta Museum of History and the Root House is below.

  • 10:00 First tours begin (half of group at Root House and half at Marietta Museum of History)
  • 11:00 Groups walk to second tour
  • 11:15 Second tours begin
  • 12:15 Groups walk to buses
  • 12:30 Buses leave parking lot for school

*Some groups opt to eat lunch in the park and board buses at 1:30 instead of 12:30.

We suggest 10:00 as the starting time for your first tour. Earlier tours can be booked on request, however, a delay in arrival will result in abbreviated tours.

If your group faces financial difficulty, scholarships are available to cover the cost of tours. To apply for a scholarship, please send a letter of request to Museum Director Jan Galt, 1 Depot Street,  Marietta, GA 30060. Please include the name of your group, a contact address and phone number, the total number of visitors in your group, the date requested for your tour, and a brief description of the reason for your need.
